I checked a Carpenter's CD out at the library the other day and I have been singing at the top of my lungs ever since. I forgot how much I love Karen Carpenter's voice! It is also the perfect range for me so I'm not popping a vein to sing along. (Charming image, I know.) I even taught my kids the words to the back-up vocals so they would sing along instead of asking me to change the disk. Now I hear them singing the chorus when we're not in the car!
I didn't realize HOW loud I was singing until I was in the car by myself last night. It was dark, so other drivers couldn't see me singing (I hope) and I could hear myself. That's when I realized it has been YEARS since I sang that loud. What a nerd! I need to be alone in the dark to let me guard down!
Anyway, I love the Carpenter's and listening to this CD reminded me that I owned the best-of album before my mission, but haven't seen it since...hmmm... I might have to hit ebay today. It also reminded me of Emily Hicken. I'm not 100% sure why the Carpenter's remind me of you, Em. Any ideas? We probably sang some of their songs in choir a lifetime ago. Maybe it's your beautiful voice...
Tara, you are coming to mind too. Another beautiful voice...
So, go find some of your favorite old music. Like the song says "Those old melodies still sound so good to me, as they melt the years away. Every sha-la-la-la..."

Sorry I deleted my original post because I had so many typos!
Oh Corrine, this post made my day...how I love Karen Carpenter! How funny you think of me when you listen to her. :) "It's Yesterday Once More, shooby, doo, lang, lang." I think I am going to have to bust out my CD's and give them a listen!
how exactly do you delete a comment from a blog?
And, yes, I forget how wonderful it is to be ALONE in the car and blast the music as loud a your adult ears can stand, and feel the music again without worrying who's little ears you are deafening!!!!
Go Carpenters!
That is great! I love the Carpenters too.
