WW and strawberries

So the 4.1 was a good omen- my loss today was 6.4! That is SO not the norm for me. That's my biggest loss ever except for my very first week, which is usually big for anyone. I'm sure part of that was major make up for an unexpected gain last week, but we'll take it! I'm sad to see that cutting back on the Diet Coke and drinking loads of water had a positive affect...

As for the strawberries, my friend Clairesse told me about a great sale on strawberries at the West Jordan Macey's- don't know if it's the same everywhere. $6.98 ish for a flat! For some reason I thought if one flat would be good, two flats would be awesome! I wanted to make freezer jam, now I'm swimming in it!

Out of the 5 lbs I have done so far, I have filled 21 jars- probably a little more than that since I pour the end of each batch into one jar and my kids have been eating it heartily! My plan is to use them for neighbor gifts for Christmas, but I'm not sure I have that many friends!

I am looking for other ideas of what to do with the remaining 11 pounds, so if you have a favorite way to preserve strawberries, let me know. I read in the Ball Blue Book about dry pack freezing them to eat whole at a later time. This sounds good because it doesn't involve 2 parts sugar to one part berries. Anyone out there tried this? Did you freeze them in jars? Ziplocs? I'd love to hear your advice!

I like to slice them and then just sprinkle a little sugar over them and stir it in and let it sit for a while until it's nice and juicy and then freeze it in Ziploc bags. When thawed, it's perfect for strawberry shortcake all year round! Also if you have a dehydrater strawberry fruit leather is good! Wish we had a Macy's here...I LOVE strawberries...my mouth is watering! Good luck with them!

You can cut out the stem then freeze them, then use them for smoothies! (Bring some to my house and I will teach you how ;) )

I will buy some jam off of you too if you wanna make a little dough. OH! I also need the nursing thingy when you get a chance!

My grandma taught me this one. For Breakfast or anytime you are in the mood for Strawberries. Cut them up in a bowl and put a little sugar on them and then put milk on them. So good. You should try that. Yum yum! Guess it is her version of Strawberries and Cream! :o) Hey I would love some jam! :o)

Buy some plastic freezer containers and cut up the strawberries and put them in the freezer. Ziploc bags work great as well and probably take less room in the freezer. In January you can have strawberry shortcake and everyone will ask where you got the strawberries!
