Bountiful Baskets

So, how many of you out there are already enjoying Bountiful Baskets? I have heard about it for a long time, but have never gone before. Today I went with my friend, Colleen. I tell you what. WOW!

For those not familiar with BB, you register online early in the week, pay your $15 plus a small processing fee, show up Saturday morning (Or your assigned time) with your own basket. Everything is all sorted for you. You walk over to a nice volunteer who gives you a basket of fruit and a basket of vegetables, which you empty into your basket and off you go. You can also buy bread & tortillas there.

Here's a list of today's basket:
5 lb bag of potatoes
1 huge head of lettuce
1 head of cabbage
1 eggplant- not sure what to do with it
1 bag string beans
2 tomatoes
5 LARGE peaches
10 plums
about 2lbs grapes
1 bunch large bananas
1 medium cantaloupe

I feel like I definitely got my money's worth! And it was quick & painless!

Give it a try!

I have been debating for years on Btfl baskets. I just hane never seen the contents to decide if it is worth it. Hearing this, I think I WILL give it a try.
Eggplant? Slice it into lazagna or bread it and cover it with mozzerela cheese and spaghetti sauce!

I have been getting BB for a couple of years. It's a great way to get your family to try new things and it's really nice to get fresh fruits & veggies during the winter months! We had the same things in our basket this week too and since I volunteered, I came home with lots of extra items :)

I love it too!!! Although I don't know what I need to do to get signed up at the one at the Kearn's rec center. It is always full when I go to get one.
